[edit] Quick Overview of HelpMeSpeak
[edit] HelpMeSpeak Objective:
HelpMeSpeak is a tool that was initially designed to act as a Vocal Aid for children who have a difficulty with their expressive speech.
[edit] How it Works:
HelpMeSpeak creates a personal website for each user, that 'speaks' when a user clicks on a image.
The administrator uploads photos or clipart to the system and categorises the content in an easy-to-use way. Then when the user clicks on any image, and the text is spoken by the computer.
[edit] Summary of steps:
1. Upload images 2. Enter the text to be spoken 3. Enter a pronunciation key if necessary 4. Categorize the image into the appropriate category or categories
[edit] Features:
It is highly customizable for each user: you can create a set of categories (such as animals, food and numbers) tailored to the needs of the user. It can be changed easily, or copied for other users to use.
[edit] Modes:
There are two user modes in HelpMeSpeak:
- Normal User: in this mode users can click on images or text buttons and have them speak.
- Admin User: in this mode, the administrator can add images and phrase buttons and specify the words to be spoken.
[edit] Help:
For help, the documentation has been split into three documents:
* Installing HelpMeSpeak --> installation instructions on Windows or Linux systems * Using the Admin Mode --> creating and maintaining the website * Using the User Mode --> using the system
